Eric Dier jumps into crowd and restrained by security after allegedly getting embroiled in an altercation with Tottenham fans
Eric Dier appeared to be involved in a furious altercation with a group of Tottenham fans following his side’s penalty shootout to defeat to Norwich.
Spurs’ season took yet another turn for the worse after the Canaries battled back from a goal down to claim a brilliant FA Cup fifth round victory in north London.
However, shortly after the game there were some ugly scenes involving England midfielder Dier, with numerous videos circulating on social media showing him clamber into the stands to confront some supporters.
You can have a look at a clip of the incident below…
Following the match, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said Dier’s angry response was because a supporter had insulted his brother.
The Portuguese said: “I don’t think that belongs to the game.
“The game was a fantastic representation of the FA Cup, but I cannot run away from the question.
“I think Eric Dier did what we as professionals cannot do but when someone insults you and your family is involved, especially your young brother.”
He added: “This person insulted Eric, the younger brother was not happy with the situation and Eric was not happy. We as professionals cannot do what he did.”
The fifth round match had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes as Jan Vertonghen’s early header was cancelled out by Josip Drmic, who capitalised on a fatal error by Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who was playing his first game in 18 months.
And it was Tim Krul who was the hero for the visitors, saving from Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes to book his side a first FA Cup quarter-final since 1992.
Daniel Farke’s men will now face Derby or Manchester United in a welcome distraction from their relegation fight.
